RELATIVELY PORTABLE, the Hoofstand is EASY TO MOVE and WEIGHS approx 18 lb., without tools. With tools, however, the stand can still be moved easily into place without dropping or displacing tools from its specially designed holder.
The HOOFSTAND HAS AN ERGONOMIC CONCAVE BASEPLATE which allows the rim to grip the ground firmly keeping the stand still and stable even when on slightly uneven ground. This, a flat bottomed stand cannot do! The stand is uncomplicated, with no gussets, etc. rising up to catch your feet if standing on the base. The base is designed for maximum stability, even when a horse is acting up! The user has the ability to place one or two feet upon the wide base plate, increasing the stability of the stand when necessary.
THE ADJUSTABLE UPRIGHTS RANGE FROM 14" - 24" HEIGHT - The uprights are the adjustable rising parts made from heavy duty steel pipe, hand welded for strength and stability while allowing you to work on the hoof at the height you desire, most suitable for the horse and, equally important, comfortable for your back! The post and the cradle are easily installed by screwing into the threaded top of the upright tube and have the ability to swivel with the horse's subtle hoof movements, thereby causing no friction nor restriction to the horse, which greatly reduces fussing and bad behavior during hoof work. The upright is fastened securely in place exactly where you want it with an easily torqued handle.
MAGNET 60# ACCESSORY. The handle on the uprights can also have 60# pull magnet fitted as an additional option.This magnet can hold not only clenches, the nails for the shoe, but also full size nippers or hammer! This fitting is an additional accessory for which there is an extra charge and must be requested when ordering. (See Diagram below.)
TOOL HOLDER - Our stands are unique in having a steel cup as seen here fitted on the edge of the base to hold your clinchers, rasp, nail cutters, etc. Both the magnet (if so fitted) and the tool holder can keep tools and the unused hoof hold attachment close at hand for use when needed. Fitted below the torque handle, designed to be in front of you as you work, the holder places the handles of your tools within your grasp without disturbing the horse. When so placed, the tools are completely out of harms way for the horse..
THE CRADLE HOOF HOLDER – We offer 3 cradle type holders.
1. The standard cradle hoof holder attachment is 2 inches wide for stability and comfort while working on the bottom of the hoof. The wide cradle aids in supporting more surface area of the hoof and accomodates the larger size hoofs, up to drafthorses. This cradle is lined with 1/4" dense rubber which the horse finds very comfortable.
2. A smaller Vee shaped cradle attachment is also available as an alternative to the standard round cradle described above. The Vee will fit the smaller hoof of a horse, ponies or miniature horses. This cradle is made of hard rubber for durability.
3. We also offer a draft horse, larger sized cradle for the really big horses you may have.
SWIVEL POSTS are an effective development of this hoofstand. The cradle can swivel slightly with the horse's hoof, or to allow the user to position it easily while holding the horse's hoof in one hand. Our screw in attachments allow the cradle to swivel as the horse needs, so the farrier can approach from any convenient angle and the horse feels no restriction. This makes the horse more confident, comfortable and quiet during dealing with the hoof. Other makes of stands have the cradle welded to the top of post, denying the horse and person the opportunity of repositioning the hoof without the cumbersome necessity of moving the complete stand. Of course if you do not want the Cradle to swivel you can just screw it in tightly. So, you can have it either way!
THE POST HOOF HOLDER – The post hoof holder attachment, which also can swivel to avoid tension in the sole of the hoof, has a durable rubber top to aid in keeping the horse’s hoof where you need it while working on the top side of the hoof, when either rasping or oiling the outer horn or setting clinch nails. (See Diagram below.)
We offer the BASIC HOOFSTAND WITH 2 HOOF HOLDERS ONLY. One standard post and one standard size cradle without the magnet. Please state which cradle(s) you need or if you want the magnet. (See Diagram below.)
The Vee cradle, the draft horse cradle or Magnet attachments are added extras, and must be ordered seperately but at the same time as ordering the stand so that we can provide a customised item for you and you can avoid freight charges by ordering now rather than ordering later.
Additional accessories such as a second cradle or the magnet incur an additional cost of $12.99 each. (See Diagram below.)
This stand can be adjusted to fit small ponies to drafts when using all types of cradle attachments.
