The Fit Horse First Aid Kit is a selection of natural remedies comprising of minute nanograms of a traditionally tried and tested herb dissolved in distilled water.  How  a few drops of diluted solution can have such a gentle but powerful effect upon all animals, humans, feather and even fish is something not yet understood.

However Herbal Homeopathy  has been observed and tested for 200 years since the formula and principles for creating Homeopathic Remedies were outlined and practiced by the German scientist, Dr. Samuel Hahnemann.

During the 1800's homeopathy proved much superior to the common medicine of the day.  Following the Crimea War cholera swept throughout Europe.  While 70% of the patients treated in regular hospitals died, there was the low percentage of only 18% fatalities recorded for those treated by Homeopathic remedies.  Similar results were recorded for pandemics of Asian flu which ravaged populations in the 19th Century.

While the development of biochemistry and improvements in surgery of the 20 & 21st Centuries have changed modern medicine, this has, no doubt, challenged homeopathy today.  However there still remains areas in which homeopathic remedies are very effective.  These areas are  those, such as the problems outlined on thefithorse.com website, where the need for a practical remedy for everyday problems is often overlooked and the realization that the problem is rooted in a "dis-ease" (Stress) is seldom understood

What is homeopathy?

The founder of modern Homeopathics is considered to be Dr Hahnemann, a German scientist of the Nineteenth Century. A doctor, uneasy with the beginnings of modern Medicine, he proceeded to scientifically prove the beliefs of Homeopathy. Some basic ideas in homeopathy, however,  go back as far  as Paracelsus, celebrated for his Celsius temperature readings, the system by which Europe calculates temperature today.

Hahnemann believed that the smaller the dose of a medicine was given, the stronger would its effects be upon the patient. This is contrary to the beliefs of modern medicine where it is considered the larger the dose, the stronger the effect.
Hahnemann also believed, along with herbalists, that the effects of each herb when ingested by a healthy test subject would produce certain physical effects caused by that plant. These plant findings often agreed with symptoms found in the sick. Whenever these were matched, plant similarities and patient's symptoms similarities, the herb would heal the patient.

So successful has this theory been in practice that herbalism, phytotherapy, and homeopathy have continued until today, despite the pressures of the multinational biochemical companies, doctors , medical experts and health care specialists trained in modern  medicine

This is not to claim that doctors and veterinarians are irrelevant!  Modern medicine can do so much that could not be done before, especially in the area of drugs and surgery and the emergency room.

However, homeopathy has some very potent remedies for humans and animals which can be easily administered, are 100% safe, and can be kept in the tack room, or in a pocket!. Homeopathic remedies taken in any amount cannot become an overdose, and produce no side effects..

Usually homeopathic remedies can begin to have an effect after 20-30 minutes and can act for 3-4 hours or up to one month.

Homeopathic remedies require very small doses, 4-8 drops in the mouth, on or under the tongue, or inside the lower lip. Given already prepared with water, they are absorbed immediately by the body. They do not need to be chewed or swallowed.
The requirements for the success of homeopathy is that no meals, feed, treats, or sweets have been taken for 15 minutes before and after treatment. Since the dose of homeopathic herb has been given in a minute,nano-gram quantity, any strongly flavored or sweet food, or any large quantity of food would negate the actions of the very small amount of active ingredient in the homeopathic remedy.
Grass or hay, however, do not seem to adversely effect the homeopathic remedy.
